Start Date: March 4 |

Kundalini Yoga: Breathing the Inner Body of Light

Breath is life and life is breath. When breath flows, so does life.
	~ Yogi Bhajan

Awaken the inner body of light, the pranamayakosha, and expand your life force with Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan. This form of yoga combines breathing exercises (pranayama) with movements, asanas, deep relaxation, chanting, and meditation to awaken a great power within you known as kundalini energy, an energy with enormous healing potential. In this workshop we will learn how to enhance, extend, and harness the power of the breath. We will draw upon our inner locks — or bandhas — to channel our heightened pranic energy. And with mudras we will explore ways to strengthen our mental focus. If your yoga so far has been mostly about stretching, this workshop will deepen your relationship with the "radiant body" which is connected with your breath. With the techniques of Kundalini Yoga, you will touch your true identity, experience physical rejuvenation, mental clarity, and a brighten your spirit. Beginners and advanced students alike will receive helpful tips for an effective home practice.

Daniel Orlansky, MA, E-RYT-500, a yoga teacher for 18 years, is certified in Jnana Yoga, Kali Ray TriYoga and Kundalini Yoga, and is the originator of Meridian Yoga. He holds a masters degree in Expressive Art Therapy/Dance Therapy from Lesley University and has been a visiting lecturer in movement studies at Tufts University. A graduate of the Boston Shiatsu School, Daniel teaches regularly at the Kripalu Center, the Omega Institute, and in Europe, and also directs 200- and 500-hour yoga teacher trainings worldwide. He has co-directed two yoga DVD’s: Hands-On! Skillful Assists for Yoga Asana, and Yoga and Vision Improvement.

Concentration Meditation Weekend Intensive

Start Date: March 16 |

The practice of concentration (calm abiding) is the foundation of the meditative journey. Our everyday minds are often scattered and suffer a profusion of thought. Through cultivating the capacity for the mind to ‘stay’ on the intended meditation object, we make the mind ‘fit’ and ‘serviceable.' This allows the mind to be more organized and focused in our everyday activities, and provides the foundation of attention so that we can have insight into the true nature of how we construct reality, and ultimately the true nature of mind. We will be following the nine stages of the Asanga/Maitreya ‘Elephant path,' which is the most detailed concentration lineage in the Indo Tibetan tradition.

Due to popular demand, this weekend has been offered for those who wish to begin or review and refine their calm abiding practice. The weekend will follow the ‘pointing out approach’ of explanation, short guided meditations and individual feedback. There will be particular emphasis in understanding the traditional stages of the path so practitioners can learn to track their own progress.

Particular attention will be paid to reviewing the posture, cultivating motivation and the extraordinary perspective, the necessary factors of awakening, correct application of directing the mind, ‘intensifying and easing up,' working with thought, drowsiness and agitation.

The workshop is appropriate for both beginners learning to develop their concentration and for those who would like the opportunity to review this fundamental skill.
